We tackle this problem. NanoStruct GmbH develops and produces high-sensitive and reproducible gold nanostructures for the detection of these contaminants which can appear in various areas. The focus lies on innovative sensor chips (SERS substrates) for the analytical method surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS).

otego GmbH

otego develops innovative thermoelectric generators (TEG) as an independent energy supply for wireless sensors and actuators. TEGs convert heat directly into electric power as soon as there is a condition of differences in temperature. They work completely maintenance-free and can use even small differences in temperature. The interdisciplinary founding team managed to bring together low-cost materials and industrial production methods for the first time. That is why otego will be the first manufacturer to produce TEGs suitable for broad mass applications.

It is otego's goal that future wireless sensors and IoT-devices such as smart home heating valves are operating energy self-sufficient. In many connected devices inconvenient battery changes will be a thing of the past.

Embion is a chemical process technology EPFL spin-off, commercializing a novel catalytic process that allows the use of sustainable resources in the form of 2nd generation lignocellulosic biomass for producing food ingredients, chemicals and fuels. Our process helps reducing the carbon footprint of these products by reducing the amount of industrial waste being disposed in land or released in the atmosphere by up to 80%. The embedded algorithms aggregate the datasets using sophisticated analytics against conventional materials data, thus providing high-value-added intelligence and insightful graphs that reveal technology gaps. These enable the user to understand the differences between the own novel material and conventional materials and to suggest an optimal workflow for the device integration.

BluAct is a revolutionary company focused on the purification of water through nano-filtration. We have uncovered new science for the removal of undesirable or harmful contaminants. Researchers have long sought a method to efficiently remove all contaminants from water, and now BluAct finally provides the answer.

The nanotechnology laboratory at BluAct has discovered that a unique combination of protein and carbon ingredients, when compressed into a membrane, will remove virtually all impurities to nearly 100% levels as water passes through its proprietary membrane at very low pressures.

ELDICO Scientific AG

ELDICO Scientific AG (The Electron Diffraction Company) is a Swiss technology and service company founded in 2019 and based in the Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), a world-leading research institute for natural sciences and engineering. ELDICO develops, manufactures and commercializes electron diffractometers , i.e. novel analytical instruments for electron based crystallography, enabling to investigate nano-crystalline samples.
