Formed in 2020, Arkenlight is the natural progression of the ASPIRE diamond group housed at the University of Bristol. Our radiovoltaic technology was developed by Professors Tom Scott and Neil Fox and their world class team of energy and diamond material scientists.

We embrace the circular economy and are driven by a mission to recycle wastes from the nuclear power industry such as Tritium and Carbon-14 and safely convert them into useful products that benefit the technological advancement of humanity.

Over 20,000 hours have been invested into developing the technology, our business, and our key networks.

We have one patent with more coming, covering the process of incorporating radioisotopes into diamond material and manufacturing.

The nano-pellets were born from the idea of harnessing the broad spectrum of well-known powdered certified reference materials for in situ analysis with laser ablation ICP mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). However, the grain size of the “analytical grade” original powders is too coarse (60-150 μm) to be analysed by a microanalytical laser which itself has a spot size of 20-90 μm. The original powders are then further ground and pressed according to material-specific grinding protocols down to the nanometer range, whereby they are sufficiently homogeneous for microanalytical techniques. Customer-specific materials can also be processed into “in-house” reference materials.

Our additives are based on the use of (highly) branched polymers, which can be used to adjust material properties such as viscosity, polymerization shrinkage or elasticity. The additives that Polytives produces can be used in more than 2/3 of the polymers currently used in the plastics industry. They can therefore be used in a variety of ways and open up new possibilities, with very good manageability, new possibilities in plastics production.
