When powered with renewable electricity, this tunable technology reduces both cost and emissions from many different chemical reactions.

Lignovations GmbH

Lignovations develops and produces high-performance biomaterials made from lignin that can replace conventional materials based on fossil raw materials in industries such as cosmetics, coatings and packaging. Lignovations was founded in 2021 as a spin-off of TU Wien and, with its multifunctional biomaterials, harnesses the natural properties of lignin for industrial and consumer applications. Lignovations recently won the futurezone award and the IFSCC Sustainability Challenge and was nominated for C&T Magazine's Alle Awards with its cosmetics ingredient LignoGuard®.

At Radical Dot, we are developping a disruptive chemical technology that transforms unrecyclable plastic waste into essentials chemical building blocks.

Today, a mere ~10% of plastic is recycled globally, partly due to the high costs and complexities of waste separation. The low value of plastic renders common recycling processes economically challenging, limiting viability to only a few types such as PET bottles.

Radical Dot technology is contributing to a circular economy for plastics, developping a reliable, efficient and feedstock agnostic recycling technology. This breakthrough will also pave the way to defossilize and finally support alignment of the hard-to-abate chemical industry with the Paris Agreement.

This process will have the potential to contribute to key chemical buidling blocks production and revolutionize a $400 billion fossil-based commodity chemicals market and reduce emissions by over 0.5 Gt CO2eq/year by 2050 (~1% of global emissions).

The story behind NeoCarbon begins with René, an industrial engineer with a master in energy and resource management who previously scaled teams to 100+ people in a Berlin-based scale-up. At the same time, Silvain, also an engineer, who previously exited his previous start-up as CTO, became increasingly concerned about the climate crisis early in his career.

Together, they combined their expertise and shared values to create NeoCarbon and build a like-minded team.
