ROCKLABS LIMITED

ROCKLABS is known today as a world leader in the manufacture of sample preparation equipment and gold reference materials.

When ROCKLABS was established in 1969 it was a commercial laboratory specialising in geochemical analysis and fire assaying. Clients were mainly mineral exploration companies from overseas. Because sample preparation equipment was difficult to obtain and maintain, ROCKLABS decided to manufacture it’s own equipment.

Clients who visited ROCKLABS were very impressed with the equipment and requests were received to manufacture equipment for them. In 1975, a decision was made to manufacture sample preparation equipment on a commercial basis. Sales of ring and puck mills expanded very rapidly. Larger premises were purchased to facilitate commercial production.

During the 1970’s the main product was the Ring Mill. From the 1980’s onwards many new and unique products have been developed and patented by ROCKLABS. The company’s origin in analytical chemistry is reflected in the customer list, that includes many research laboratories as well as those in industry.

ROCKLABS philosophy remains unchanged, to complement its quality products with simply the best service it can provide.

ROCKLABS has three chemists who operate a free testing and advisory service for customers. Samples can be tested at ROCKLABS for no charge.

Since the 1980’s the aim of the company has been to mechanise and automate sample preparation. This reduces labour costs, greatly improves working conditions, reduces chances of injury and improves sample quality.

Emphasis has been placed on the gold mining industry which is well known for its sampling problems. ROCKLABS has also applied developments made in the gold industry to other industries. Customers using ROCKLABS Mechanised and Automated sample preparation systems comprise a broad spectrum of the mining industry including companies such as Anglogold, Barrick Gold, Diavik Diamond, Hamersley Iron, Newmont Gold, Placer Dome and Timan Bauxite.

ROCKLABS customers are located in over 85 countries. ROCKLABS staff are also an international group, originating from Australia, England, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Romania, Russia, Scotland, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

ROCKLABS staff have a wide range of expertise in geochemistry, chemistry, engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, automation, machine design, geology, marketing etc.

Syft Technologies Ltd

Syft Technologies designs and manufactures a revolutionary Mass Spectrometer (SIFT-MS) that enables detection of virtually all gaseous chemicals down to pptv in seconds.

Customers include Baker Hughes, Samsung, Ford Motor Company, LG, SC Johnson and others who love Syft's speed, ease of use, very low detection limits, low consumable costs and the ability to measure compounds that are difficult for other techniques: amines, sulphides, aldehydes and reactive species.

This ground breaking technique emerged out of investigations of ion chemistry in the Earth's atmosphere, and other planetary atmospheres, and was developed further at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. In 2002, Syft Technologies was formed, providing sufficient funding to take this academic research into a fully developed commercial solution.

Now Syft instruments are sold throughout the world, in a wide range of applications as diverse as mud logging, to cutting-edge breath research. In all applications the unique attributes of Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry (SIFT-MS) have enabled our customers to measure significantly more than they thought was possible, resulting in a greater understanding of their products.

Providing customer solutions is at the core of Syft Technologies. We employ a vibrant team of chemists, physicists, mathematicians, and engineers, who enable Syft to provide customized solutions for our customers. This is the reason why every Syft customer speaks so highly about Syft, and why most make repeat purchases.

Izon Science Ltd

Izon is a nanotechnology company focused on measurement, analysis and single particle control. Since commencement in early 2005, Izon has developed the science, hardware and software to fabricate and control dynamically resizable nanopores. These are a practical and cost effective means for the detection, characterisation and control of nanoparticles down to the molecular scale.

Izon’s nanopores can be opened, closed and changed in size in real time. The platform encompassing this technology is called SIOS (Scanning Ion Occlusion Spectroscopy).

Izon provides instrumentation and consumables for research uses. It is actively engaging worldwide in a number of research collaborations to develop new applications for the SIOS platform. Collaborations also target scientific discoveries enabled by this new technology. In due course out-licensing options will be available.

Izon’s ultimate goal is for its resizable nanopore platform to form the basis of widely adopted molecular diagnostic solutions. These will be medically useful, practical in application and economical. We expect them to be developed in collaboration with key partners.
