In 1993 a renowned chemist and two of his colleagues, building on an already successful catalyst regeneration model, formed TRICAT. The goal was to establish a new business venture to utilize an improved method for regenerating spent hydrotreating catalyst.

Their innovative technology was to apply an ebullated bed technology into the world of catalyst regeneration. TRICAT, built its first plant in McAlester, Oklahoma. This plant continues to serve the needs of petroleum refining in North & South America, the Pacific Islands and eastern Asia.

TRICAT built a second plant in Bitterfeld, Germany for the purpose of servicing petroleum refineries located in Europe, Africa, the mid-East and Western Asia. The plant in Bitterfeld was based on the McAlester facility and included a new sulfiding facility where TRICAT currently operates its patented XpresS sulfiding technology.

TRICAT has become a global player in the refining catalyst markets, and now offers a multitude of high-quality products and services to meet the needs of the refining and petro-chemical industries.
