The Westfalen Group is a technology company in the energy sector with a total of 23 subsidiaries and associated companies in Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Founded in 1923, the family business with over 20 production facilities in Europe is headquartered in Münster. Its fields of business are gases, energy supply and filling stations. The Westfalen Group generated sales of around 1.9 billion euros with more than 1800 employees in the 2019 financial year.

In the Power Supply division, Westfalen is one of the leading suppliers of liquefied petroleum gas in Germany with its Westfalengas brand.

With 260 Westfalen and Markant filling stations, mainly in north-west Germany, the Filling Stations division has the largest network of independent brand filling stations in Germany.

The Gases division produces and sells around 300 technical gases and gas mixtures for almost all applications in industry and trade, food production, laboratories, pharmaceuticals and medicine. They particularly include the air gases nitrogen, oxygen and argon, which are produced in air separation plants in Hörstel, Laichingen and Le Creusot in France, as well as hydrogen, carbonic acid (CO2) and helium. The development of innovative gas applications that optimise industrial processes is also of great importance. Refrigerants and heat carriers for cooling and air-conditioning technology round off the diverse delivery range.

Within the scope of innovative filling station concepts, Westfalen promotes the use of alternative fuels for the mobility of tomorrow. With the market launch of H2 technology in the mobility sector, the Westfalen Group is taking the next step towards the energy transition.
